Eligibility:

  • Both partners must be unmarried (not already married to another person).

  • Male should be at least 21 years old and female at least 18 years old.

  • Both parties should give consent freely, without any force or pressure.

  • Neither party should be of unsound mind at the time of marriage.

  • Parties should not be related within prohibited degrees of relationship (as defined by law).

  • Notice of intended marriage must be given to the Marriage Registrar of the district where at least one person has resided for 30 days or more.
